Recently, with the approval of the China Geospatial Information Industry Association, the Digital Twin Transportation Application Industry-Academia-Research Integration Innovation Technology Committee (referred to as: the Technology Committee) was officially established, with Beijing Brilliant Technology Co., Ltd. as the leading member unit, and the Four-Type Airport Research Institute of China Civil Aviation University, the Tangshan Research Institute of Beijing Jiaotong University, and Dalian University of Technology as deputy director member units. The Technology Committee will focus on the innovative development directions of digital twin technology integrated with big data, IoT sensing, mobile and edge computing, artificial intelligence, simulation, and large models. It will explore innovative applications of digital twin technology in the intelligent directions of civil aviation, rail transit, and urban transportation fields.

In the field of rail transit, the research focuses on situational awareness and analysis, simulation and prediction, intelligent operation control and scheduling, and full-process management and optimization for rail transit digital twin intelligent applications, establishing a standard system, service platform, and typical applications for rail transit digital twins. In the field of urban transportation, the main research goal is to use digital twin technology to establish a digital model of the urban traffic system, achieving functions such as traffic flow monitoring, road condition prediction, and traffic signal optimization, to realize intelligent traffic management and scheduling, improve traffic efficiency and accuracy, and enhance emergency response capabilities and safety.
