From September 2-6, 2022, the "2022 Smart Water Conservancy Construction Summit," hosted by the Smart Water Conservancy Branch of the China Water Resources Enterprise Association, was held in Hangzhou. The forum invited leaders from national ministries and commissions, local government authorities, academicians, and experts to give keynote reports and engage in dialogues, exchanges, and discussions with the attendees. During the forum, a series of special activities were also held, including smart water conservancy construction training classes, planning interpretations, and technical sharing sessions.

Smart water conservancy is an approach that integrates the concept of "water conservancy facilities + internet" with technologies such as 5G, IoT, big data, cloud computing, digital twins, and GIS. This includes full-scenario, all-time, and round-the-clock flood control in river basins, water resource management and allocation, remote monitoring, safety analysis, and integrity assessment of existing water conservancy facilities. It also enables automatic control of flow, pressure, and equipment such as pumps, valves, and gates, as well as automatic completion of equipment inspection, positioning, optimization, operation simulation, training simulation, and emergency simulation functions.
