From August 31 to September 2, 2022, the "2022 Geospatial Information Technology Innovation Conference" was held in Beijing. The conference was jointly organized by the China Geospatial Information Industry Association, the Chinese Society for Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography, the Chinese Association of Regional Science, the College of Earth and Space Sciences at Peking University, the School of Resource and Environmental Sciences at Wuhan University, the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Easy Geoinformatics Information Technology Co., Ltd. Beijing Bona Technology Co., Ltd. was invited to attend the conference.
Ms. Qi Huanran, Vice President of Beijing Brilliant Technology Co., Ltd. and General Manager of Chengdu ShuZhi Technology Co., Ltd., shared a keynote speech online titled "Digital Twin: New Infrastructure of the Metaverse in the Web3.0 Era."
Ms. Qi Huanran stated that currently, the metaverse has become a highly innovative direction that has attracted significant social attention. The metaverse is not just an extension of digital space but a digital new world that integrates the virtual and the real. However, the development of the metaverse will go through a long, gradual iteration, and a continuous expansion of boundaries. For the future development path of the metaverse, the main infrastructure is an indispensable and important component, as we cannot exist apart from the physical world. Metaverse infrastructure consists of the material engineering facilities and soft production facilities that support the normal operation of the metaverse. It is the carrier of the underlying support technologies of the metaverse in both material and virtual spaces, mainly including three categories: central infrastructure, terminal infrastructure, and soft infrastructure.
Experts have varying opinions on the role of digital twins in the construction of the metaverse. Some view digital twins as the infrastructure upon which the metaverse is built, while others see them as the core technological framework for the future metaverse. Regardless of the perspective, it is clear that the metaverse and digital twins are closely intertwined. Both digital twins and the metaverse share a foundation in digital technology, simulating and visualizing the physical world, and enabling interaction. Generally, the underlying technological principles are universal, but they differ in their focus. Digital twins map events and devices in the physical world with precision, serving as a foundational framework that scales from factories to city management, using objective dynamic data and artificial intelligence analysis to further simulate and predict, assisting managers in making precise decisions.
Currently, Brilliant Technology's digital twin technology has been implemented in various fields such as smart civil aviation, smart ports, smart highways, and smart parks, creating value for these industries. In July 2022, Brilliant's Digital Twin Operating System BLinkOS 2022.1 was officially released. This system includes digital twin scenario development, data integration and fusion processing, digital twin visualization tools, and a holographic 3D cloud rendering platform. The system has a robust capability for rapid scene construction, with a built-in rich library of models that can be imported with one click. It offers a variety of 2D and 3D visualization components, using a drag-and-drop free layout.
For example, Brilliant's Digital Twin Airport Platform can display the resource distribution of the airport and visualize flight route management at different map levels, to the entire airport domain scenario, the distribution of the flight area, the airport buildings, interiors, and related equipment in a gradual visual manner; it integrates the airport's comprehensive management system, focusing on air route management and airport area and security management, achieving monitoring, early warning, diagnosis, and analysis for comprehensive airport management operations.
Brilliant's Digital Twin Port Platform can accurately digitize the physical equipment, vehicles, and vessels in the port. Whether it's the trajectory of personnel, the dynamics of operational pipelines, or the information on vessel operations, all can be visualized in real-time on the platform, enhancing the safety production control and emergency command capabilities of the dock. This creates good safety and economic benefits and forms an efficient and safe digital dock with online 3D display and pipeline operation visualization, establishing a transparent and intelligent management system.
Brilliant's Digital Twin Power Station will achieve three-dimensional panoramic visualization of the power station, full-state perception of equipment, intelligent prompts for facility maintenance, automatic planning of maintenance paths and operation ranges, three-dimensional circuitry of substations and virtual electrical operations, panoramic simulation of maintenance operations, and automatic generation of operation plans. These features will reduce the workload for frontline personnel and make the operation and maintenance of power stations smarter.
Brilliant's Digital Twin City will achieve comprehensive digital modeling of urban infrastructure such as roads, bridges, manholes, and buildings, as well as full perception and dynamic monitoring of the city's operational status. By establishing virtual models for the physical city, it simulates the behavior of people, events, and objects in real environments. Through planning, design, and simulation in the twin city, it intelligently warns of potential adverse effects, conflicts, and hidden dangers that may arise in the city, and provides reasonable and feasible countermeasure suggestions.
