On August 12, 2022, at the Aerospace Remote Sensing Service Geospatial Information Industry Sub-forum of the China Geospatial Information Industry Conference, Ms. Qi Huanran, Vice President of Beijing Brilliant Technology Co., Ltd., General Manager of the Technology Center, and General Manager of Chengdu Brilliant Digital Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech titled "Metaverse: From the Internet of Everything to the Coexistence of Everything." Ms. Qi's views on the integration of metaverse, digital twin, big data, and Internet of Things technologies with the real economy were highly recognized and praised by the attendees.
Ms. Qi noted that the metaverse has garnered widespread attention in recent years, partly due to the continuous development of various core technologies and hardware, and partly due to the rapid iteration of various Internet technologies, which has accelerated the digital transformation of enterprises and provided opportunities for the rapid development of the metaverse concept. The metaverse encompasses sensory interaction devices, network transmission, chip computing power, blockchain and NFT technologies, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital twins, and more.
However, even though both are in a "dynamic progress" state, there are significant differences between the metaverse and digital twins in terms of industry development, market maturity, and practical application. Firstly, as a vague concept, the metaverse is still in the stage of cognitive cultivation for various actors such as governments, enterprises, and audiences, while digital twins have gone through "concept cultivation," "solution architecture," "pilot," and are now in the stage of "overall landing construction exploration." Secondly, in terms of practical application, digital twin city projects that have been implemented focus on industry scenarios such as transportation, ports, energy, and cities, covering areas such as public service management, community development, and intelligent building applications; the metaverse, on the other hand, is still in its infancy. Lastly, the metaverse tends to construct an ideal digital society with shared and immersive experiences, while digital twins are more focused on empowering decision-making in the real society and improving the efficiency of industry operations.
In practical business scenarios, digital twin technology can enhance the operational capabilities of enterprises. For instance, in the field of smart parks, there is significant potential for development, and the future market demand is expected to be substantial. The Boen Digital Twin Smart Park Platform not only integrates and displays data related to the park's water supply, electricity supply, security monitoring, fire protection, parking, Wi-Fi, commercial areas, and other park data, but also enables managers to more easily handle all matters, big and small, within the park. Of course, the use of these devices is intelligently controlled, automatically collecting and monitoring energy consumption data for each floor, and it can also manage all equipment within the park. This technology can bring significant changes to the future operation and development of the park. By leveraging data and building control, it can intelligently provide suggestions to create the most efficient and convenient smart park.
