Firstly, as a vague concept, the metaverse is still in a state of cognitive cultivation by various actors such as government, enterprises, and audiences. Digital twins, on the other hand, have undergone "concept cultivation", "scheme architecture", "pilot", and have ushered in "overall landing construction exploration". Secondly, in terms of practical application implementation, the digital twin city projects that have been implemented focus on industry scenarios such as transportation, ports, energy, and cities, covering areas such as public service management, community development, and intelligent building applications; The metaverse is in its infancy. Finally, the metaverse is more inclined to build an ideal digital society of shared and immersive experiences; Digital twins, on the other hand, tend to empower decision-making in the real world and improve industry business efficiency.
